My goal is to keep this as simple as possible. There are wonderful, feature-rich alternatives out there.
I've been using those services personally for over a decade, but when I opened one of them recently and was confused about how I was supposed to make a simple post, I gave up.
I run Wordpress blogs, I've used Tumblr, hosted my own etcetera, but I never posted as much as I would have liked because they all become too complicated for occasional posting.

Years ago there was a cool blogging site called Posterous, which was the first time I'd ever encountered blogging by email. Soon after they launched, other blog platforms began offering the same function. Which was cool, but as Facebook and Twitter became more popular, blogging platforms went through an identity crisis and tried to adapt. The result is that today, Tumblr is a shadow of itself, Posterous is no more (bought by Twitter and shut down) and other sites feel it bit neglected. Wordpress has done great and is a wonderful service, but it's become too complicated for me to use casually.
